About Me

Hi, I'm Jessica Vargas, and I'm thrilled you're here!

My interest in birth work began during my university studies in Anthropology where I conducted research on birth trends from both a biological and cultural perspective, utilizing ethnographic accounts of birth practices around the world and ancient and modern skeletal data.

My understanding of birth transitioned from academic to experiential at the birth of my daughter and continued to expand with the births of my two sons. I was blessed to have the support of a doula alongside all three pregnancies and births; through her care, I felt empowered and informed about my birth experiences.

Doulas have a rich history of serving pregnant women and supporting them in one of the most beautiful yet challenging times of their lives. I felt this call to serve fellow women for many years before I decided to formally pursue DONA certification and become an active doula.

I am a Catholic Christian doula, and this leads to my birth philosophy that all mothers deserve respect and dignity, regardless of who they are and what their birth looks like. As fiat means surrender in Latin, the name "Fiat Doula Services" points to each woman's "yes" as we give over our whole selves to this beautiful birth process that we were made for. My goal is to nurture you with the emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual support and provide the evidence-based information you need to have the birth that works best for you and your baby.

I am blessed to be married to my highschool sweetheart and mom to three little ones and a dog. I'm originally from Florida but have called Georgia home for many years. In my free time I enjoy hiking, cycling, reading, baking, and playing the piano and saxophone.

Can't wait to meet you!
